Demarketing for sustainability: a review and future research agenda

In the context of emerging sustainability challenges, demarketing has continued to draw the attention of academicians and practitioners globally over the past few years. It is interesting to note that demarketing is as old as marketing itself, yet its application and scope have grown from the past two decades only. Kotler and Levy, (1971) has defined demarketing as “that aspect of marketing which deals with discouraging customers in general or a certain class of customers in particular on a temporary or permanent basis”. This systematic literature review attempts to enrich the discussion on demarketing research through a systematic and comprehensive review of 64 articles published between 2000 and 2022. Using TCCM framework, we present relevant theories, research contexts, study characteristics, and methodologies used in demarketing research. Our review (1) Presents a systematic and comprehensive overview of the research in demarketing over the last two decades (2) Examines studies in demarketing within the framework of ‘triple bottom line’ approach for sustainability (3) Suggests a suitable definition of demarketing considering its exorbitant application within the sustainability context (4) Identify gaps and sets agenda for future research. Our systematic literature review found that research in demarketing has been growing considerably over the past two decades, twice as much in the last decade compared to the previous decade with spill-over to new sectors. The literature review, through the lens of ‘triple bottom line’ approach, is able to establish that demarketing can be employed to effectively address the sustainability challenges encountered by policymakers and practitioners.

Section 115bac of income tax and its relevance in the current scenario

Every year, tax laws are updated to create a more straightforward tax system for every Indian taxpayer. It was determined to provide new voluntary taxation to individual assesses in the union budget under section 115BAC of income tax act 1961. This essay discusses the new optional tax system, a comparison to the previous tax system, and the applicability of optional tax in the current context. Understanding tax payers' attitudes towards optional tax and educating them about the new regime, the drawbacks of optional tax, and its implications for the upcoming fiscal year are among the objectives of this research. Data is generally gathered through questionnaires for this purpose, and various research papers and journals are read to provide better analysis. According to survey results, individuals will continue to use the old tax system because there are no deductions available under the new tax law. However, the majority of respondents concurred that the new plan is superior to the previous one since it is completely dependent on the degree of income and investment of the individual. Overall, it can be said that, if you set aside a few of the new tax scheme's flaws, it is the correct step towards becoming a significant tax reform in recent memory. Keywords: Section 115 BAC Optional tax regime, Old tax structure, Relevance.

Experimental investigation and cfd analysis of different diameter evacuated tube solar water heater

The share of renewable energy share in India's energy mix of India has been increasing recently owing to the promotion and implementation of various government policies that promote the use of renewable sources of energy, depleting fossil fuel levels, increasing fuel prices, and stringent laws for emission reduction worldwide. The increase in the use of solar-evacuated-tube-collector-based domestic water heating is the result of this transition from conventional to nonconventional sources of energy. The recent urban agglomeration is challenging to install these solar water heaters in every household because the roof space is limited. Space reduction can be achieved by reducing the collector area by varying the diameter of the evacuated tubes. This study used a single tube and tank arrangement model with a fixed inclination to achieve a thermosyphon effect in a solar water heating system with three different diameter configurations of 48 mm, 54 mm, and 72 mm, with a tube measuring 1800 mm in length. Thermal assessment of the thermosyphon-based evacuated tube-solar water heater using the ANSYS CFD simulation software involves measuring the temperature at three different positions in the tank to study the thermosyphon initialization. This study signifies that the 72-mm-diameter evacuated tube is more capable of initializing the thermosyphon effect in the system. Nevertheless, the final temperature of the system is better achieved in the 48-mm-diameter evacuated tube

Glossary of globally used herbs and animals for urolithiasis: historical background, mechanism of action, therapeutic spectrum, formulations with doses

Natural products, the most significant source for pharmaceutical development, have been investigated and utilized to alleviate diseases since early human history. The currently accepted modern medicine from different natural products has gradually developed over the years and is God's gift in the sense of traditional knowledge. Trustful humanity believes that drugs can cure every ill of natural origin. Natural medicines, prevalent in holy books, folklores, Materia medica and other historical literature, have become an essential domain of modern pharmaceutical sciences. Natural compounds from terrestrial and marine organisms have been extensively used to treat many diseases in their natural form or as a template for synthetic modification. Several of these natural products have shown biological and pharmacological activities and serve as the starting point in the development of modern medicines. Screening of crude plant extracts opens the door to the discovery of novel bioactive compounds, and elucidation of their structures leads towards new synthetic preparations, which can be administered in reproducible, accurate doses for particular therapeutic purposes. However, what is needed are rapid screening techniques, structure-based design, bioactivity-safety evaluation, extraction and isolation, and clinical trials for drug development under innovations, which will share the profit of products derived from natural origin. The government sector, industries, and academic institutions also play an essential role in developing biological drugs for human health enhancement. This book comprises four chapters. The first chapter is related to urolithiasis. In this chapter, the types of urinary stone formation in humans, their mechanism, current antiurolithiatic strategies and their complications are discussed precisely and comprehensively. Chapter two declares urinary stone treatment in early civilisation. The third chapter is about globally used antiurolithiatic plants. This chapter is a treasure trove of information covering the importance of plants in combating urolithiasis, their diverse pharmacology, and a comprehensive list of 888 antiurolithiatic plants from 144 families used in 55 countries. The tabular format provides a clear understanding of their historical background, mechanism of action, therapeutic spectrum, and formulations with doses. Occurrence of hypopituitarism in tunisian turner syndrome patients: familial versus sporadic cases

Objective: To explore unusual association between Turner Syndrome (TS) and Hypopituitarism in a Tunisian cohort. Methods: We reported 6 patients with TS associated to Hypopituitarism, including three familial cases except the fourth sister who showed only a TS phenotype. Biochemical analysis, resonance magnetic imaging and cytogenetic analyses were performed. Results: The average age of our patients was 17.2 years (11-31 years). They were all referred for short stature and pubertal delay, except for the fourth sister who presented spontaneous puberty with the integrity of the pituitary axis and the presence of an X ring chromosome. Karyotype analysis showed monosomy in 3 cases and a mosaic TS in the 3 remaining cases, including one patient with abnormal X chromosome structure. Somatotropic and corticotropic deficiencies were confirmed in 2 sporadic cases while the gonadotropic and thyrotropic axes were spared. In contrast; familial cases were consistently affected by the integrity of the corticotropic axis. MRI showed pituitary hypoplasia in all familial cases and pituitary stalk interruption syndrome in only one sporadic case. No correlation was found between the chromosome formula and the anterior pituitary involvement. Conclusion: Co-segregation of congenital Hypopituitarism with pituitary hypoplasia and X chromosome aberrations could imply a molecular anomaly of transcription factors responsible for the differentiation and development of pituitary cells such as PROP1, POUF1, Hesx1, Lhx3, Lhx4. The etiopathogenic link between X chromosome abnormalities and the occurrence of Hypopituitarism remains unclear; however, the progress of molecular biology may clarify the interrelation between transcription factors and sex chromosome segregation abnormalities.

Simulation-based time-domain short-circuit fault evaluation and protection system reliability analysis in 300mva substations with 132kv transmission lines

This study conducted a simulation-based time-domain short-circuits fault evaluation and protection system reliability analysis in 300 MVA substations with 132 kV transmission lines in Asaba (Ibusa/Asaba), Delta State, Nigeria. The analysis focused on two primary parameters: protection system dependability and selectivity, to determine the conditions necessary for ensuring rapid fault clearance and stable substation operation under line-to-ground, double-line, and three-phase faults. Fault currents, voltages, and relay trip signals were generated and analyzed using MATLAB time-domain simulations. Results indicated that system dependability exceeded 97% and security surpassed 95% when total fault-clearing times remained below 120 ms. Relay coordination intervals of 0.2–0.4s, backup misoperation below 3%, and circuit breaker MTBF above 20,000 h ensured selective fault isolation. Extended fault durations beyond 120ms or improperly coordinated relay settings increased the likelihood of misoperation and voltage instability. It was concluded that uninterrupted substation operation depends on integrating time-domain fault evaluation, coordinated relay settings, and reliable breaker performance into protection management protocols. Accordingly, it was recommended that substation operators maintain precise relay coordination, implement continuous time-domain monitoring, and uphold breaker maintenance schedules. These actions will further enhance the protection reliability, reduce fault propagation risks and support safer, more stable operation of the 132 kV transmission network.

Organic ranking cycle–stirling engine efficiency in small scale industrial solar energy conversion in delta state, nigeria

This study analyzed the performance of hybrid ORC -Stirling systems in terms of thermal-mechanical energy conversion in relation to small-scale power generation by industries in Delta state, Nigeria. The two main parameters examined included the thermal collection efficiency of evacuated tube collectors and the influence of the environmental parameters on the stability of torque and the power output of the shaft. The data collection was performed on solar irradiance, ambient temperature, wind speed and PCM thermal cycling at 8-hour intervals in 90 days, and analyzed by means of MATLAB-simulated multidimensional plots. Findings showed that evacuated tube collection produced efficiency of ≥65% thermal collection efficiency, providing sufficient heat input for ORC–Stirling systems to maintain torque deviations within ±5% and conversion efficiency ≥40%. Mean solar irradiance of 775W/m²and PCM cycling between 250–310°C supported continuous 8-hour daily operation of industrial machinery. The results showed that hybrid ORC-Stirling systems are reliable to drive small-scale industrial processes even when environmental conditions vary. It was therefore advised that the small-scale operators should invest in ORC-Stirling systems, the Manufacturer Association of Nigeria (Delta State Chapter) should create awareness and demonstrations of this hybrid ORC-Stirling system and tertiary institutions in Delta state should engage the faculties of Mechanical Engineering to conduct training and pilot projects to facilitate adoption and proper maintenance of this ORC-Stirling system. Such measures will further improve operational stability, cut down-time and sustainability and decentralized industrial power

Making sense of ‘homemaking’ in the diaspora: the case of the indo-surinamese hindustanis in the netherlands

Diaspora groups across the world have been known for adopting and inventing processes and forms of ‘homemaking’ in their host lands. This article brings into focus the methods of homemaking assumed by the Indo-Surinamese Hindustani diaspora in the Netherlands, which owes its origin to colonial dispersal. Considering their status as a ‘twice-migrant’ diaspora, the process may appear to be distinctly difficult for the Hindustanis, a position this article seeks to examine. The article interrogates the notion of homemaking in the case of the Hindustanis through ethnographic conversational interviews of Indo-Surinamese interlocutors—a unique perspective based on personal histories and everyday experiences.

A secure distributed peer to peer systems

A P2P network can be an ad hoc connection- a couple of computers connected via a Universal Serial Bus to transfer files. And these networks are vulnerable to peers. The traditional security techniques are insufficient for P2P networks as they are insecure by their very nature. There’s no centralized server controlling access to shared resources in a P2P network which have unique challenges including identity management of the peers, secure reputation data management, Sybil attacks, and above all, availability of reputation data. The future actions are predicted where peers are encapsulated in its digital reputation, based on the past behaviour of the peer. Thus a peer’s reputation allows it to cooperate and prevent from malicious activities. The cryptographic protocol is coupled with selfcertification and cryptographic mechanisms for identity management and countering Sybil attack.
